Spiti Valley is a cold desert mountain valley located high in the Himalayas in the northeastern part of the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. The name “Spiti” means “The middle land”, i.e. the land between Tibet and India. It is bound to leave you in awe of the mountains. This cold desert has tons of features to show for itself; from high mountain passes, to unbelievable monasteries, astonishing culture, architecture and much more. It is a rugged high altitude land where the air is much drier than other high altitude places, temperatures drop below zero at night but still remains the land to enchant you and makes for a hell of a trip for all.
Itinerary
Day 1 Leh Arrival And Acclimatization Day, Overnight Stay In Leh
- Upon your arrival in Leh, the breathtaking "Land of High Passes," our representative will warmly welcome you
- Take the day to acclimate to the crisp mountain air and immerse yourself in the serene surroundings
- You can explore the vibrant local market and visit the iconic Shanti Stupa for panoramic views.
- Dinner & overnight stay at your hotel
Day 2 Leh To Nubra Valley Via Khardung La Pass
- After a hearty breakfast, we set off for the breathtaking Nubra Valley. Experience an exhilarating ride through Khardung La Pass, one of the highest motorable roads in the world, and take a moment to admire the stunning views from Khardung La Top.
- Next, visit the Diskit Monastery, offering a mesmerizing panoramic view of Nubra Valley
- Later, head to the Hundar Sand Dunes, where you can enjoy a unique double-humped camel ride in the cold desert.
- Wrap up your adventurous day with a delicious dinner and an overnight stay at camps or cottages amidst the serene valley
Day 3 Nubra To Pangong Tso
- Start your day with a delicious breakfast before departing from Leh to visit the breathtaking Pangong Tso
- Arriving in the late afternoon, witness the mesmerizing beauty of this world famous lake, known for its ever-changing hues, shifting colors 4 to 5 times a day
- Spend your evening soaking in the serene ambiance, surrounded by towering snow-capped mountains and the tranquil waters of Pangong.
- End the day with a delightful dinner and an overnight stay at camps by the lake, under a starlit sky in Pangong
Day 4 Pangong Tso To Hanle (180 Kms) Via Changthang Valley
- After Breakfast head for tiny village Hanle. Hanle is a off beat destination of Ladakh region. This village situated in the south-eastern end of Jammu and Kashmir and comes under the Changthang region. It is a 8 to 9-hr long drive from Pangong and close to the Indo-China Border. You will pass through the Lukung and Chushul Valley (close to the Indo China border)
- Reach Hanle in the evening, you will visit the famous Chandra Telescope (Hanle Observatory) of Indian Institute of Astrophysics - world's second highest optical telescope
- Check-in at the home stay/ Hotel and enjoy delicious dinner Overnight stay in Hanle
Day 5 Hanle - Umling La - Hanle
- After a night spent stargazing, we will re-fuel our energy and set out to conquer the mighty Umling La - World’s Highest Motorable Pass perched at an elevation of 19, 024ft.
- Today is the day we forget all our fears and gear up for a ride of a lifetime. As you climb higher the barrenness and twisting turns will literally have adrenaline pumping through your veins.
- After the thrilling and memorable ride, we will head back to Hanle and spend the night capturing the night sky. The clear views of the milky way, shooting stars and more is a sight that is sure to leave an indelible mark on your soul.
- Dinner and Overnight stay in Hanle
Day 6 Hanle To Tso-moriri (140 Kms)
- Good morning with a view! After a nutritious breakfast, we'll head towards Tso- Moriri, a sacred site for Ladakhi people and one of the highest lakes in India with an altitude of 14,836 ft.
- En-route, you may even get a glimpse of rare birds like the black-necked crane and bar-headed geese
- After spending a blissful afternoon by the lake, exploring its beauty and simply absorbing the peace, we’ll head to our cottages near the lake
- At night, you can catch glimpses of the night sky and indulge in group bonding sessions. Dinner and an overnight stay at Tso-Moriri.
Day 7 Tso-Moriri To Leh
- After Breakfast, check out from Camps for the return journey to Leh
- Enroute take a short halt at Changla Pass and visit Hemis Monastery & 3-Idiots School. Return to Leh in the evening
- Dinner and Overnight stay at Leh
Day 8 Departure From Leh
- You will wake up feeling happy, peaceful, and satisfied
- Enjoy a hearty breakfast and take a few moments to think about the great memories from the past few days.
- With your heart full of unforgettable moments, say a bittersweet goodbye to your friends as you head home from Leh Airport.
